Notifications delivered in a really useful way ; Waterproof design means you can take it swimming ; More luxurious stainless steel watch face

Has a thicker screen bezel than the Pebble Time ; Leather strap is most unattractive of the strap options ; Still needs some better watch faces

Improved looks and a better battery life put the Pebble Time Steel slightly ahead of the Pebble Time. However, it's too expensive for what's on offer.

Gives an average of seven-days battery life per charge, iPhone and Android connectivity, solid design, full-colour screen is always-on, simple to use, waterproof to 30-metres

No touchscreen, not as vibrant as rivals, not as many apps as Android Wear or Apple Watch

There are some who won't be as enamoured with the Pebble Time Steel as we are and that's fine: there are plenty of alternatives in the shape of Android Wear devices, Samsung rivals or the Apple Watch, and many are around the same price.

If 2016 is the year the smartwatch goes from being a mere accessory to a legitimate device, it seems apt that Pebble — one of the most successful independent progenitors of this gizmo — should unveil a new model this year.

The Pebble is not your typical smartwatch. If it’s flash you’re after, this isn’t the watch for you. If it’s brands you’re after, this isn’t the watch for you. If it’s photos and videos you’re after, this isn’t the watch for you.

Pebble goes all heavy metal on us

Fab battery life ; Comfortable ; Small, comfy design

Pretty similar to Pebble Time ; Apps are generally simple, low-key

A bit too similar to the Time for comfort, but still a blissfully easy-to-live with, long-lasting smartwatch.
