Acer Swift 7

Acer Swift 7 review: Although impressively slim, it's not the most portable laptop around and underperforms compared with some rivals.

Thinnest laptop around ; Powerful display ; Surprisingly strong usability ; 4G SIM support

Limited connectivity ; Restrictive performance ; Not quite as 'compact' as rivals

Although very slim and nice-looking, the Acer Swift 7 isn’t the most portable laptop around, while also underperforming compared with rivals.

Acer Swift 7 review

The Acer Swift 7 is ridiculously thin, yet somehow crams in huge battery life.

Acer Swift 7 review: thin at all costs

The Swift 7 is the lightest computer I've ever reviewed, but it makes many compromises to get there

Incredibly thin and light ; Large display for its size ; Fanless design keeps things quiet

Awkward keyboard layout ; Poor palm rejection on the trackpad ; Thin, wimpy speakers ; Doesn’t like to charge with standard USB-C adapters ; Webcam is virtually useless ; Display has a slow touch response ; Doesn’t take much to overwhelm the processor

The goal of the Swift 7 is noble: make a standard clamshell laptop as thin and light as possible in order to make it as portable as it can be. As a regular commuter, it’s something I’d typically appreciate — anything that makes my backpack or shoulder...

Acer Swift 7 review

The world's thinnest laptop comes at too steep a price

Excellent design ; Built-in LTE option ; Decent battery life

Touchpad doesn’t click ; Awfully weak performance for price ; Poor webcam placement ; Lacking audio

Between a touchpad that doesn’t click and its aging, fanless processor, the Acer Swift 7 is an absolutely gorgeous Ultrabook – the ‘world’s thinnest,’ in fact – that we simply can’t recommend in a sea of laptops that are far more powerful and not much...

The 'world's thinnest laptop' is surprisingly packed with extras

The Acer Swift 7 packs in a 14-inch touchscreen, fingerprint reader, backlit keys and more.

Despite being just 8.98mm thick, there's room for a 14-inch touchscreen, backlit keyboard, big touchpad and even a fingerprint reader.

Slower CPU than much of the premium ultraportable competition. The touchpad is fixed, so no physical clicking. There's a limited number of ports.

Adding a bigger screen to a thinner body makes the Acer Swift 7 feel like the rare high-design ultraportable you can really use all day long.

Acer Swift 7 (2018)

Acer's Swift 7 is the slimmest ultraportable you can buy, a trait that pairs well with its 4G LTE service. You'll pay a major premium, though, for those features.

Thinnest laptop in the land. Attractive all-metal design. Bright, touch-enabled display. 4G LTE support. Good battery life.

Pricey. Low-wattage Y-series CPU is slower than the competition. Display is only 1080p. 256GB of storage is a little light, given price.

Bottom Line: Acer's Swift 7 is the slimmest ultraportable you can buy, a trait that pairs well with its 4G LTE service. You'll pay a major premium, though, for those features.

Acer Swift 7 review: The world's thinnest laptop is starving for power

Acer's Swift 7 dethrones HP's Spectre 13.3 by being just 9.9mm at its skinniest point, but it sheds more than just slivers of an inch.

Quiet at all times ; Handles basic tasks with ease ; Thin frame is a unique look

Lacks Thunderbolt 3 ; Ability to handle more intensive tasks is constrained ; It's thin...but it's also large

Acer Swift 7 (SF713-51-M90J)

The Acer Swift 7 currently ranks as the world's thinnest laptop, but to carry a laptop this slim you'll need to make quite a few feature sacrifices.

0.39-inch thin. All-day battery life. Bright and accurate display. Two USB-C ports. Quiet operation.

Benchmark performance is lower than that of rivals. Shallow key travel. No keyboard backlight. Lacks Thunderbolt 3 support.

The Acer Swift 7 takes its place as the current thinnest Windows laptop on the market. While it has impressive battery life and a beautiful screen, you have to make compromises to get them that you don't with rivals like the HP Spectre 13 and the New...

Acer's Swift 7 is unbelievably skinny, if not always speedy

Sure, it's nearly as thin as your phone. But size isn't everything.

This is an insanely thin 13-inch laptop, in an eye-catching gray-and-gold design with an extra-wide touchpad. It has one of Intel's newest CPUs.

The tiny keyboard keys don't feel especially premium, and this isn't the fastest slim 13-inch in the bunch. The 1,920x1,080-pixel screen doesn't support touch, and the only ports are USB-C.

It's hard to argue with a 13-inch laptop under 10mm thick. The Acer Swift 7 wins on that front, but other laptops offer more power and features while adding just a few millimeters of bulk.

Acer Swift 7 (2018) review: This spectacularly thin and light PC is a pain to actually use

Acer's Swift 7 (2018) sets the standard for thin-and-light notebooks, but a frankly awful typing experience and tablet-class performance make it a tough sell.

Incredibly thin, exceptionally light

Clickless touchpad is frustrating ; Tablet processor in a laptop equals subpar performance ; Poor battery life

The Swift 7 faces a somewhat unique challenge: It’s a notebook, but powered by a processor designed for a tablet. Unfortunately, the 2-core, 4-thread 7th-generation Y-series Core chip inside the Acer Swift 7 (2018) is no match for the 4-core, 8-thread...
