Acer C710 (Q1VZC) Chromebook review

A small and inexpensive laptop for the Google generation

Good overall performance ; Vibrant screen ; Good keyboard and touchpad

Short battery life ; Can get noticeably warm ; Sticky Backspace key

Acer's C710 is not a laptop that will suit everyone, but if you are already a heavy user of Google's array of services, and if you just want a simple device on which to use those services, you should definitely give this Chromebook a go.

Acer C7 Chromebook

A low-cost Chromebook that can be yours for under £200.

Bright screen, Low cost, Chrome is getting better all the time

Large hard drive is pointless, Unappealing looks, Keyboard could be better

Acer C7 Chromebook review: Chrome OS on the cheap, but at what cost?

It's been just over a month since Google unveiled its gorgeous and affordable $249 Samsung Chromebook only to surprise us days later with an even cheaper

Most affordable Chromebook yet ; Decent performance ; Hacker friendly

Cheap materials and build quality ; Poor keyboard layout ; Lackluster battery life

Acer's $199 system certainly wins on price, but it looks and feels extremely cheap. It offers a fast processor at the expense of a poor keyboard layout and lackluster battery life.

Review: Acer's C710-2457 Chromebook is a basic, bargain browsing machine

The C710-2457 is inexpensive and could knock around a family room or a kid's backpack with little budgetary trauma, but it's otherwise unremarkable and does little to promote the Chrome-centric lifestyle.

Very inexpensive ; Ethernet and wireless connectivity

Cheap plasticky feel ; Display has limited viewing angles

The Acer C710-2457 is a bargain among Chromebooks, but there's little else about it that makes it worth buying—or that will convince a smartphone or tablet user to convert.

Acer C7 Chromebook (C710-2457)

The third variation on the Chromebook theme, the Acer C7 Chromebook (C710-2457) drops the price but loses a couple choice features to do so.

One of the least expensive Chromebooks. Larger RAM means zippy performance. Full selection of ports, including HDMI and Ethernet. Keyboard blends traditional and Chrome layouts.

Smaller battery means shorter battery life. Smaller local storage. Chrome OS offers limited offline use. No 3G option.

While the new Acer C7 Chromebook (C710-2457) gets dinged for the loss of the larger hard drive and the shorter life of the smaller battery, it does have one of the lowest prices of any of the available Chromebooks. For a product that's all about...

Acer C7 Chromebook review: It's time for Chrome to get better Chromebooks

The SSD-equipped Acer C7 is cheap at $199, but that's about all it has going for it.

The ; is the least expensive Chromebook on the Google Play store, and comes with a set of base features competitive with Samsung’s $250 Chromebook.

Cheap-feeling Netbook-like construction, small touch pad, limited battery life, and unimpressive display and speakers; plus, Chrome OS is inherently limiting for offline use so this isn't as versatile as a traditional PC. Meager 16GB of onboard SSD...

If you want one of the least expensive Web-browsing devices that feels like a laptop but is really a Chromebook, the Acer C7 is fine. But its limitations match its price.

Acer C710-2457 Chromebook review

It's become abundantly clear at this point that Chrome OS isn't going anywhere. Google's foray into browser-driven computing is more than an experiment: Chromebooks are still hanging on in the fringes of the laptop market, and even gaining in number....

Acer C7 Chromebook (C710-2055)

The Acer C7 Chromebook (C710-2055) is the best inexpensive Chromebook currently on the market.

More RAM for better, zippier performance. Swappable 6-cell battery lasts longer on the road. Very affordable. Big 320GB hard drive for a Chromebook. Full selection of ports, including Ethernet and VGA. Keyboard blends traditional and Chrome layouts.

Unchanged design is still clunky. Chrome OS is limited. No 3G option.

Though it doesn't have the same claim on affordability that the previous $200 C7 Chromebook had, the Acer C7 Chromebook (C710-2055) is still less expensive than almost any Windows laptop, and now offers better performance and battery life. With twice...

More RAM and a focus on Chrome's offline capabilities, for a new sub-$300 Chromebook.

Acer C7 Chromebook review

A very affordable Chromebook. But with flaws.

Cheap ; Good build quality ; Pretty good screen ; Simple to use

Limitations of Chrome OS ; Poor battery life ; Unresponsive keyboard ; No 3G option ; Hard drive out of place
